Key Privacy Principle: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Your profile details and resumes are used exclusively to assist you in filling job applications and generating application materials upon your explicit command.

1. Introduction

CodeLuminArc ("we", "our", or "us") provides the AI Job Application Assistant Chrome Extension (the "Extension") hosted via extension.codeluminarc.com. This Privacy Policy details our practices concerning data collection, processing, storage, and your rights under global privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and Google Chrome Web Store Developer Policies.

2. Data We Collect and Process

The Extension processes the following categories of data solely to provide automated application assistance:

  • User Profile Information: Full name, contact email address, phone number, physical address, city, state, postal code, country, portfolio links (LinkedIn, GitHub, Personal site).
  • Professional Background: Years of experience, educational history, technical skills, and professional summaries provided by you or extracted from your uploaded resume.
  • Resume Documents (PDF): When you choose to upload a resume file via the Extension or Options portal, the document is ephemerally parsed to extract your contact and background fields.
  • Job Application Context: When you invoke the "Auto-Fill" or "Generate Cover Letter" features on an active job portal tab, the extension reads form inputs and job description text strictly on that tab to map fields accurately.
  • Authentication & Subscription Status: Order ID, payment status, and subscription tier verified via secure payment processing. We do not process or store credit card numbers or UPI PINs; payments are securely handled by RBI-regulated payment gateways (Razorpay).

3. Chrome Extension Permissions Justification

In accordance with Google's Principle of Least Privilege, the Extension requests only permissions essential to its core features:

  • storage: Used to save your profile details, user preferences, and local Pro subscription token on your device for fast autofilling.
  • activeTab: Used solely when you click the extension popup to interact with the currently active job application page. It does not monitor or log background browsing activity on other tabs.
  • scripting: Used to inject the autofill script into job portal pages (such as Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby, LinkedIn) to populate fields you requested.

4. How We Use and Share Information

Your information is used exclusively to:

  • Auto-fill job application forms upon your explicit user action.
  • Extract background details from uploaded PDF resumes.
  • Generate tailored cover letters matching specific job postings.
  • Verify subscription and payment status.

We strictly adhere to the Google Chrome Web Store User Data Policy:

  • We do not sell user data to third parties.
  • We do not use or transfer user data for targeted advertising, retargeting, or credit assessment.
  • We do not transfer user data to third-party brokers or aggregators.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your profile information is primarily stored locally within your browser's encrypted local storage (`chrome.storage.local`). All communications between the Extension and our backend servers (such as resume parsing and payment verification) are encrypted in transit via industry-standard HTTPS / TLS 1.3.

Backend servers enforce strict timing-safe cryptographic verification, tiered rate limiters, and structured logging without recording sensitive user credentials.

6. Your Data Rights & Control

You maintain full control over your data at all times:

  • Edit or Clear Data: You can edit or delete your profile information at any time via the Extension Settings / Options page.
  • Complete Erasure: Uninstalling the Chrome Extension immediately erases all locally stored profile data and credentials from your browser.
  • Data Portability: You may request an export or permanent deletion of any backend records by contacting our support team.

7. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect enhancements to our services or changes in legal regulations. Material modifications will be indicated by the updated "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
